Walk in the Woods, chapter 4

might add a text to explain the pic a lil later, not in the mood rn ~

First Quest submission, been pushing myself to ..draw this picture. I've never drawn such a perspective... lightning, trees, leaves, everything is pretty new to me. Hope I can improve with this group <3
/Edit wow, dA just reversing how big I wanted this picture displayed. Great;
(also, my sig is mirrored, not gonna change that, too lazy)

EDIT STORY TO GO ALONG WITH IT:

Saturated – an adjective which occupied Amélie’s mind and kept her focused as she was curious to gaze at every tree and admire the diverse and rich colors of the leaves surrounding her. Red, orange, yellow, everything was painted in different hues and nothing appeared to be the same. Quite unused to such an environment, Amélie was carefully trudging on the loamy soil, indecisive and wary of the path she has taken. Her own boundary looked quite different, it had been a while since she had last seen so many trees in one place. Such a dense forest felt new to her, novel and peculiar but still slightly intimate. Her old memories were quite faint when it came to remembering, but the sounds and feelings remained familiar. Occasionally she slowed her pace to look around, observing closely whether someone was following her. Prudent and vigilantly she continued her walk, her head half dodged as she was distrustful towards her environment. It felt quite strange that no one was here, even in her swampy home there was never such a leery atmosphere present. She was more drawn to muddy waters, despite not knowing what lurked inside it, trunks and branches obstructing her view were more intimidating. Even though birds were chirping and the breeze was whistling, Amélie only cared about the path in front of her and the sounds of dabbling water far away. Water meant home, and therefore comfort, which she set out to seek. Fidgety and uneasy, she was alarmed by every twig she stepped on and agitated by venturing into new territory. The solitude was bearing on her, until the bird songs became louder and the strength of the wind intensified, brushing against her back. Startled by the sudden rush of motions, she halted in her tracks and lifted her gaze, listening to the branches of trees beating softly against each other. Leaves were falling and through the clearing of the canopy above her head, Amélie observed a flock of birds heading South. The forest seemed to be mumbling and for a brief second it all appeared alive, only to vanish a second later. Everything returned to silence, yet Amélie felt assured in her path and resumed her way further down into the undergrowth. Feeling more comfortable and open to experience the forest’s ambience, the cat-sized esk continued her route, confident to discover what the forest was holding out for her.

love it! the suggestion of birds in migration is such a great and less-utilized suggestion of the season
